Packaging Technologist
Beak & Johnston is a family-owned entrepreneurial market leader in chilled and frozen convenient food solutions to ANZ retailers and foodservice operators.
We are looking for an experienced Packaging Technologist to join our team.
You will enjoy leading strategic innovation projects across multiple sites to provide solutions, efficiencies and implementation of new and improved products.
You will be responsible for:
- Generating new packaging products in response to project briefs.
- Ensuring that packaging products meet set requirements and specifications.
- maintain Packaging Specifications for all applicable categories
- Producing samples to try out different materials and designs.
- Liaising with commercial, purchasing and production teams
- Identifying opportunities to reduce costs whilst maintaining quality.
- Running trials to check packaging for suitability and testing for performance under various conditions.
- Controlling production and quality standards
- Evaluating, selecting and negotiating with suppliers.
- Developing and writing reports.
- Keeping up to date with technological advancements.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Relevant Quality and/or Food Technology qualification.
- Experience managing NPD (New Product Development)
- Experience working in a dynamic FMCG company
- Experience in leading the testing and evaluation of multiple packaging combinations.
- Experience leading technical projects
- Experience translating technical detail into packaging concepts
- Confident and engaging written and verbal communication skills
- Well planned with excellent time management skills
- Works well under pressure, meeting deadlines and problem solving
