WHAT:
On Monday the 27th of July, the Australasian Institute of Packaging (AIP) will be hosting 4x packaging panel discussions on the Innovation stage at foodpro. The panel discussions will bring together a wide range of industry innovators including companies that entered the 2026 round of the Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) awards. Come and hear about the latest trends in packaging designs, and what is shaping the changing face of Sustainable packaging, materials and systems.

The panelists will discuss a broad range of topics including Extended Producer Responsibility regulations, the landscape for redesigning recycle ready packaging, moving towards kerbside recyclable alternatives, finding the balance between food & packaging waste, reduction of materials, reusable and refillable systems, the use of renewable materials such as sugarcane and dry moulded pulp, and more. The panelists will offer local, regional and global perspectives and will be showcasing some innovative new packaging coming out of the Australasian region.

This session will cover innovative trends in Food packaging including meat and fresh produce, save food packaging and date labelling.

This session will discuss fibre and renewable alternative materials.

This session will cover Sustainable Packaging design, recycle ready materials, washable adhesives, light weighting and recycled content.

This session will discuss refillable and reusable innovations and the shift to certified compostable packaging for ready meals, restaurants & hospitality.
