The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) is pleased to advise that two Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) award winners from 2022 – Caps & Closures and BioPak – have both been shortlisted as finalists for three special WorldStar Packaging Awards.
Caps & Closures is a finalist in two separate special award categories for two different products – the NEW Accessible Packaging design special award for the EzyGrip and Packaging that Saves Food special award for the ThermoShield Temperature Monitoring System – Food.
Other Finalists for the Packaging that Saves Food special award are Masterpack Group (Netherlands) – Modified atmosphere technology and Amcor Copperprotek (Chile) – LifeSpan copper based film.
Other finalists for the Accessible Packaging Design special award are the Salt Industry Centre (Japan) – Shio Hitofuri one-shake (hitofuri) salt and Toyo Seikan (Japan) – Finger-fitting tab for food can lid.
BioPak is a finalist in the coveted Sustainable Packaging Design special award for the Sugarcane Pulp Hot & Cold Cup Lids.
Other finalists for the Sustainable Packaging Design award are Coca-Cola Tokyo Research & Development (Japan) – Coca-Cola label-free PET bottle and Raja (Norway) - SeaStretch the first manual stretch wrap made of paper.
The winners of the special awards will be announced on the 6th of May at the 2023 WorldStar Packaging Awards ceremony which will be held at Interpack, Dusseldorf, Germany. There will be a large delegation of Australian and New Zealand companies heading to the WorldStar Packaging Awards ceremony as 19 will be receiving general awards on the night.
