The  AIP  would like to take this opportunity to welcome Camilo Serrano MAIP, Packaging Technologist, Don KRC – George Weston Foods to the Institute and share a little bit about who he is and what he does in the industry.  Please join with us in welcoming him to the AIP.

Camilo_Serrano_300px1.  Why did you join the AIP?  What benefits do you believe the AIP offers all their members?

Camilo:
I joined the AIP because it is a well recognised organisation that can help achieve my personal and professional goals.  The benefits they provide to their members are great.  The variety of courses and programs they have on offer are well structured and designed. In addition, the opportunity of becoming a Certified Packaging Professional is simply extraordinary as it is internationally recognised.

2. How long have you been in the industry? What are your areas of expertise?

Camilo:    
I have been in the Packaging Industry for over seven years, both internationally and  in Australia.  I have had the opportunity to develop skills in the design and development of Packaging for Cosmetics as well as for Food (FMCG) Thanks to being part of R&D Departments, I also have developed a great understanding of Project Management, Innovation and Leadership.

3. What is your current job role and what are your responsibilities?

Camilo:    
I am currently working for DON KRC – a division of George Weston Foods – as a Packaging Technologist.

My main responsibilities are:

  1. To provide technical support in the design, development and commercialisation of packaging components as agreed by the business.
  2. Project managing and working with cross functional teams on packaging development projects.
  3. Assisting the Manufacturing site with technical support.
  4. Assisting in identifying innovations in the packaging field for the development of New Products.
  5. Identifying cost saving opportunities.
  6. Assisting the business to achieve 2025 sustainability targets and transitioning to a circular economy.
