ABOUT:
As one of the leading producers of market pulp, paper and fibre-based packaging Oji Fibre Solutions officially opened their new manufacturing facility for corrugated packaging products in Yatala, Queensland in February. The new site will use the latest manufacturing technology to supply packaging products to end-use markets in Queensland, northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory, particularly in the fruit and vegetable and meat segments. The Yatala site was chosen due to its central location between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and vicinity to key end-use markets.

The plant is housed in a 5/6 Green Star rated building. The 2.4 hectare building sits on 5.8 hectares of land, and its green credentials include a rainwater harvesting system which will reduce potable water consumption by 80 per cent; optimum energy efficiency including a 100kW Solar PV System, daylight sensors, and a lighting control system in the warehouse; and building construction per Environmentally Sustainable Design.

Attendees will be some of the first to visit the leading-edge fully-automated corrugated box facility. During the site visit you will see the fully-automated materials handling and production operations, a BHS corrugator, Bobst die-cutter and Mitsubishi EVO die-cutter in operation. Oji Fibre Solutions are committed to delivering innovative, environmentally sustainable products and their paper is sourced their own plantation-grown forests in New Zealand.

All attendees must wear closed-in shoes and it is recommended that no loose jewellery is worn. AIP will supply high-vis safety vests and the site will supply hairnets. No mobile phones or cameras allowed.
