OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE:

The packaging specification defines all the necessary packing levels for a product or the transport of the product. For a product, a packaging specification focusses on the packed product and the packaging materials that are being used to ensure the safe travels in the rigours of the supply chain.

In the course we will cover aspects such as: Why have a specification, the management thereof, how to collect the data, and the fundamentals of drafting a specification.

We will discuss material types in packaging, as well as sampling plans, testing of packaging, and how best to incorporate all the data into one document. The course will address the importance of auditing suppliers of your packaging.

It will conclude with applications in the industry, discussing possible pitfalls and the issues that may occur over time when suitable specifications are not available and/or not up to date, and what to do about rectifying such situations.

Pierre has extensive experience in the pharmaceutical and food and beverage packaging industries over 35 years of experience in the field of packaging science and its related subject matter.
He lecturers in the technology and science of packaging at numerous universities and institutions around the world for the past thirty years. He is the current Education Director of the AIP, holds a professorship in Packaging Engineering and is the current President of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO).
