This forum is part of Food South Australia's Packaging for Product Shelf Life and Transport project and aims to:

- identify innovative solutions to optimise product shelf life for different transport models
- provide South Australian food and beverage manufacturers with an opportunity to explore shared needs and opportunities

Presenters
Professor Pierre Pienaar
Pierre is President, World Packaging Organisation and Education Director, Australian Institute of Packaging and is a registered Certified Packaging Professional in over 60 countries. Pierre's contribution to the industry has been recognised with an Australian Institute of Packaging Founders Award and he regularly provides expert opinion on packaging science, engineering and technology.

Dr Maria Saarela
Maria is Research Director, Food Sciences at the South Australian Research and Development Institute and Affiliate Professor, School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, Faculty of Sciences at the University of Adelaide. Maria's experience includes roles with the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, where she focused on food microbiology and functional food research and with the European Food Safety Authority, where she provided expert support in the fields of food and food safety.

Dr John Carragher
John is the Food Industry Liaison for the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide. John's research areas include seafood, aquaculture and stress in production animals. His previous roles include Principal Scientist with the South Australian Research and Development Institute and acting as a consultant to the FOODplus Research Centre and the University of Adelaide's AgriFood & Wine Industry Engagement Priority team. His current roles focus on delivering approaches, processes asnd technologies to improve the quality and marketability of food products for local, national and international markets.
