Food-waste-challeng-2024-600pxThe AIP partnered with the inaugural Australian Food Waste Challenge that sought out innovators and small businesses solving Food Loss and Waste problems. The Challenge was designed to shine a spotlight on them, and connect them to those that will help them in their journey.

The AIP sponsored the Packaging Challenge which complied with the Save Food Packaging guidelines and asked each entrant how would they redesign Food Packaging to be more intuitive and innovative in order to prevent food loss and waste.

The winner for the Packaging Challenge was ZeroTag: The Refillable e-pantry

ZeroTag’s solution is designed that a customer can purchase smart labels and tag refillable and reusable containers and shelves at home. The QR code labels can be linked to barcodes for refillable packs linked to an e-pantry for households. Users can add a Use By Date to the products which will then automatically sort them according to the date and when it is due to expire.  When running low on products in the pantry a simple scan of the ZeroTag label will automatically reorder via the e-pantry store. This solution assists households to decide what to buy, when, how much and how to avoid food waste. https://www.zerotag.au/

All finalists will receive mentoring and support from the End Food Waste Australia team, the Rocket Seeder network and the sponsors involved in the Challenge.
