The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Packaging Specialist to join our world-class facility, servicing one of Global CTDI’s most esteemed customers. Based in Kemps Creek NSW, the Packaging Specialist is responsible for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide leadership to the packaging process including sourcing supply, new product introduction, monitoring consumption and end of life, testing, and automation integration. This is an onsite role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute the procurement of packaging materials based on production schedules and inventory needs ensuring availability of quality packaging materials to meet consumption
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to select appropriate packaging materials for new products
  • Identify and qualify local suppliers for packaging materials and services
  • Interpret specifications and conduct testing and validation of new packaging materials to meet packaging specifications and customer requirements
  • Monitor and analyse consumption rates to forecast future needs
  • Ensure cycle count of packaging, covering various scenarios: flat-packed, pre-folded, in-storage vs deployed on workstations
  • Provide technical training and coaching to qualify operators and maintain training records
  • Conduct audits for pre-folding process as well as post-pack packages
  • Conduct audits on correct packaging, product placement, proper sealing of shipper and placement of carrier label
  • Develop and implement strategies for managing carton end of life consumption, responsible disposal or recycling
  • Manage and Identify opportunities to minimalise scrap generation of packaging materials
  • Provide feedback to customer
  • Owner of system and process related to packaging, as well as user acceptance testing
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes from suppliers ensuring competitive pricing and quality
  • Prepare purchase orders to obtain materials, tools and equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations team to integrate automation and optimise efficiency

The successful candidates will hold the following skills and experience: 

  • 3-5 years experience in a relevant technical role
  • Ability to assist in coordinating team members to meet production goals
  • Capacity to engage with customers in a professional manner
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail in task completion.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with individuals
  • Competent in maintaining accurate and organised records
  • Ability to manage basic issues and problems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel, a working knowledge of SAP, previous experience with inventory management software
  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills
